Lead climbing changes the relationship between you and the wall.
On top rope, the rope is already above you. When you climb, your protection is in place before you leave the ground. With lead climbing, you bring the rope up with you, clipping into protection as you go. You manage your slack, read the route, and make decisions while you’re climbing. If you fall, you fall past your last clip before your belayer catches you.
It’s a different skill set. And if you’re serious about developing as a climber, it’s one worth learning. ClimbMax has been built with lead climbing in mind from the beginning.
